Harto, a Dane, won’t join England’s David Horsey and the other leaders after finishing 5-over par at the Himmerland Golf and Spa Resort in his home country, but that would have done little to wipe the smile off his face.

After a birdie on the 16th hole, Harto picked his girlfriend from the crowd, pulled out a jewelry box and got down on a knee to propose.

Spectators standing off the green commended the proposal, which was seemingly accepted, with a resounding round of applause before Harto completed his round.

Horsey followed his opening 63 with a 4-under 67 to move to 12-under par for the tournament — three ahead fellow Brit John Parry and Australia’s Richard Green, who made a big move by shooting a bogey-free 65, tied for the low round of the day.
