To get right to it, the easiest way to recruit a Video Game Designer is to start a new game and select them as a First Operative in Watch Dogs Legion. Indeed, it is possible for this type of operative to appear among the preliminary lineup of characters, and players should simply restart their games repeatedly until they find one. Before fans do this, though, they should make absolutely sure that they have properly backed up their saves, as restarting will overwrite any progress that they have made.

Once a Video Game Designer shows up as a possible First Operative, players should recruit them in order to unlock the Meta-Gaming trophy in Watch Dogs Legion. From there, fans can restore their previous save files to pickup where they left off, or they can start an entirely new playthrough if they wish to. For those players that choose the second option, activating Watch Dogs Legion’s permadeath setting may be a good way to spice up a new run.

Of course, this is not the only way to get the Meta-Gaming achievement, and players that are not comfortable with the method outlined above can instead try to recruit a Video Game Designer directly from the map. Some fans suggest that these Watch Dogs Legion characters have a proclivity for spawning in Southwark and Lambeth, and players may want to begin their searches there. However, even if a player targets those areas they should still expect to scan a significant number of characters before finding a Video Game Designer.

To note, the Meta-Gaming achievement is not the only one that centers around recruiting certain operatives, and players that want to unlock the Platinum trophy will need to recruit characters like Watch Dogs Legion’s Beekeeper and Spy. That said, many of those operatives can be unlocked by simply turning the various boroughs defiant and completing associated missions, making them quite a bit easier to obtain than the somewhat-elusive Video Game Designer.

Watch Dogs Legion is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and later on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
