Of course, the first leak for the game - when Watch Dogs 2 was accidentally confirmed by a developer over a year ago - set a precedent for huge, premature news announcements for Ubisoft’s highly anticipated sequel. Tonight, however, might be the biggest leak yet, as a new Watch Dogs 2 trailer featured prominently as a Twitch commercial and revealed a lot of previously unknown information regarding the game.

From the looks of the trailer, it seems like a safe bet that the previous rumor about Watch Dogs 2 being set in San Francisco can be upgraded to a confirmed fact. That same rumor speculated on a release date for Ubisoft’s next story about vigilante hackers, and that turned out to be true as well, as Watch Dogs 2 appears to be coming on November 15, 2016.
That’s not all, however. The trailer also revealed a huge tonal shift in the way Ubisoft is approaching the world of Watch Dogs, revealing a brighter aesthetic and a more Silicon Valley-type feel to the character models than the publisher had used in Watch Dogs 2’s predecessor. That revelation might not seem like much on the surface, but it certainly lends credibility to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot’s claim that Watch Dogs 2 will have innovative new gameplay and a refreshingly new tone.
The trailer leak might cause gamers to seriously question Ubisoft’s ability to keep anything a secret, but the signs within the video itself are extremely encouraging. Despite strong sales, the original Watch Dogs faltered for some critics after the painfully boring Aiden Pearce grew difficult to empathize with over an entire narrative. Some gamers have made many suggestions on how to make Watch Dogs 2 better as a result, and it appears Ubisoft has been paying attention.
