Because precious few minutes before Sunday’s clash, Philadelphia star wideout A.J. Brown butted heads with San Francisco safety Jimmie Ward.

It seems the altercation stemmed from Ward’s insistence on stepping onto Philly’s side of the field prior to the game. Brown didn’t take kindly to Ward’s trek and let him know about it, appearing to share some words before giving him a slight push. Ward responded with a love tap of his own before he was shepherded away by the referees and teammate Talanoa Hufanga.
Ward isn’t unfamiliar with trading barbs. He famously sent shots at Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce during the offseason, telling Instagram followers he was excited to take on the future Hall of Famer.
Ward offered a humorous response before San Francisco’s Week 7 matchup with Kansas City, telling reporters it was time to put up or shut up.
“I’ve been talking a lot of smack, too, so it’s like, ‘Dang,’” Ward said earlier in the year. “Them boys are going to smell blood in the water. I’m going to be out there fighting. Sink or swim. … Them boys kept the receipts.”
We’ll have to see if Brown is on the same time.
